Refund Policy

Effective Date: July 2026Last Updated: 27 July 2026

1. Overview

This Refund Policy explains how cancellations and refunds work for Life Engine memberships (Solo, Shared, and Family Pack). It sits alongside our Terms of Service, which govern use of the Service. Nothing on this page is intended to exclude, restrict, or modify rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) or other laws that cannot be excluded by agreement.

We do not operate a blanket "no refunds" policy. Statutory consumer guarantees always apply where the ACL applies. Payment for memberships is handled by Paddle as Merchant of Record; payment-level refunds are processed through Paddle where applicable.

2. Cancelling your membership

You may cancel a paid membership at any time through account settings or the cancellation path provided for your Paddle subscription. You do not need to call or email us first to cancel.

  • After cancel, paid access continues until the end of the billing period you have already paid for (unless a refund or ACL remedy applies earlier).
  • When that period ends, the account becomes unpaid: a soft paywall may limit interactive use, but your data is retained on a non-destructive basis so you can export it or resubscribe. There is no automatic downgrade to a forever-free product tier.
  • A 30-day Solo trial (no card) ends without a charge if you do not purchase; the account then moves to the same unpaid state.

3. Australian Consumer Law

If you are a consumer in Australia, our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. If the Service fails to meet a consumer guarantee:

  • For a major failure, you are entitled to choose a refund or replacement/re-supply (or other remedies the law provides), which may include cancelling and receiving a refund for the unused portion.
  • For a minor failure, we may choose to repair, replace, or re-supply the service within a reasonable time. If we cannot, you may be entitled to a refund or other remedy.

These rights sit alongside any voluntary options we offer. This policy does not limit those guarantees.

4. Change of mind

Outside ACL remedies, change-of-mind refunds for unused time in a billing period are not guaranteed. We may still review goodwill requests case by case (for example clear billing error). Cancel always remains available so you are not locked into future charges.

5. Paddle and payment refunds

Paddle is the Merchant of Record for purchases. The purchase and payment contract for a membership sale is with Paddle; Paddle's buyer terms apply to tax, payment processing, and payment-level refunds. Approved refunds are issued through Paddle to the original payment method where that is how the charge was made.

Life Engine remains responsible for the quality of the software Service under the ACL even though Paddle handles the sale mechanics.

6. How to request a refund

To request a refund or raise a billing problem:

  1. Email legal@lifeengine.app with your account email, approximate charge date, and a short description of the issue.
  2. We aim to respond within five (5) business days and will tell you what we need next (including any Paddle steps).
  3. If the matter is an ACL guarantee claim, say so — we will treat it as such and not force you into a change-of-mind-only path.
