1. Agreement to Terms
Welcome to Life Engine. These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you", or "your") and the sole trader trading as Life Engine ("Life Engine", "we", "us", or "our"), with Australian Business Number (ABN) 64 460 145 021, operating from Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. These Terms govern your access to and use of the Life Engine platform, including all related websites, applications, services, and tools (collectively, the "Service").
By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service in any manner, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms in their entirety. If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not access or use the Service.
If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms. In such cases, "you" and "your" refer to the organisation.
You must be at least 18 years of age, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to create an account and use the Service. Individuals under the age of 18 may only use the Service through a Family Engine managed by a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on their behalf.
2. Description of Service
Life Engine is a LifeOS platform designed to help individuals and families manage everyday logistics, career development, and personal finances through a unified, privacy-first dashboard. The Service provides tools and features including, but not limited to:
- Personal Engines: Individual workspaces for managing personal data, tasks, and records across logistics, employment, and financial domains.
- Family Engines: Shared workspaces that allow family members to coordinate and share selected data based on configurable visibility and privacy settings.
- Logistics Management: Vehicle tracking, trip logging, fuel logs, service records, and fleet management tools.
- Employment and Career Management: Employment records, career tracking, professional development tools, and related data management.
- Financial Management: Personal and household budgeting, expense tracking, financial reporting, and portfolio oversight tools.
- Data export (where available): Domain-level export tools in the product where we have shipped them, plus the ability to request help obtaining your data (see Section 5.3).
Life Engine reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time, with or without notice. We will make commercially reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes to the Service. New features and tools released as part of the Service are subject to these Terms.
3. Account Registration and Security
3.1 Account Creation
To access and use the Service, you must create a Life Engine account by providing a valid email address and creating a secure password. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to keep your account information up to date.
3.2 Account Security
You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of your account credentials, including your password. You agree to:
- Create a strong, unique password that you do not use for any other service.
- Not share your account credentials with any third party.
- Notify Life Engine immediately at legal@lifeengine.app if you suspect any unauthorised access to or use of your account.
- Enable any additional security features offered by the Service, such as two-factor authentication, when available.
3.3 Account Responsibility
You are fully responsible for all activities that occur under your account, whether or not authorised by you. Life Engine will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to maintain the security of your account credentials. You acknowledge that Life Engine may rely on your account credentials to verify your identity and authorise actions taken through your account.
3.4 One Account Per Person
Each individual may maintain only one account on the Service. Creating multiple accounts for the purpose of circumventing restrictions, abusing promotions, or any other reason is strictly prohibited and may result in the termination of all associated accounts.
4. Subscription Plans and Payment
4.1 Membership Tiers
Life Engine is a paid cloud Service. There is no forever-free tier. Current membership tiers (list prices, monthly billing, Australian Dollars, GST-inclusive as displayed at checkout) are:
- Solo ($9 AUD/month): Cloud sync and backup for your Personal Engine across your devices, with access to the product feature domains included on our pricing page.
- Shared ($15 AUD/month): Everything in Solo, plus the ability to own and sync Shared engines so a household can coordinate on one bill. Invitees may access shared data under your entitlement as described in the product.
- Family Pack ($29 AUD/month): Everything in Shared, plus coverage for five named members' Personal Engines under one household bill (the buyer counts as slot 1).
Feature details and the live price list are published on our pricing page. We may update tier names, included features, or list prices with reasonable notice as described in Section 4.3.
4.2 Solo Trial
New accounts may be offered a thirty (30) day Solo trial without providing a payment card. During the trial you may use Solo-tier features as described on the pricing page. When the trial ends, if you have not started a paid membership, your account moves to an unpaid state as described in Section 4.5 (not a permanent free tier). Trial availability, eligibility, and any limits may change; we will not silently convert a trial into a paid charge without your purchase action.
4.3 Billing, Merchant of Record, and Payment
Paid memberships are billed in advance on a recurring monthly cycle in Australian Dollars (AUD) unless we clearly offer another cycle at checkout. List prices on our site are GST-inclusive where GST applies to the customer-facing sale.
Paddle is the Merchant of Record (MoR) for purchases. When you buy a membership, your purchase and payment contract for that sale is with Paddle (or its affiliates), and Paddle's buyer terms, tax handling, and checkout flow apply to the transaction. These Terms govern your use of the Life Engine Service and software; they do not replace Paddle's buyer terms for the payment itself. By completing checkout you authorise Paddle to charge the payment method you provide for the selected membership and applicable taxes as shown at checkout.
You are responsible for keeping payment details current with Paddle. If a renewal payment fails or entitlement lapses, we may place the account in an unpaid state (Section 4.5) until payment succeeds or you cancel. Life Engine may change list prices or tier packaging with at least thirty (30) days' notice before the change applies to your next renewal where required by law or by our notice practices in Section 14.
4.4 Cancellation
You may cancel a paid membership at any time through your account settings or the cancellation path provided via Paddle for your subscription. Cancellation is straightforward and does not require you to contact support first. Upon cancellation:
- Your paid entitlement remains active until the end of the current paid billing period you have already paid for (unless a refund or consumer-law remedy applies earlier).
- After that period ends, the account becomes unpaid — it is not downgraded to a free "Solo Core" or other forever-free product tier.
- Your data is retained on a non-destructive basis while the account exists, subject to our Privacy Policy and Section 13. Paid-only capabilities (for example owning Shared engines or Family Pack slots) may be restricted by a soft paywall until you resubscribe.
- You may export your data before or after cancellation as described in Section 5.
4.5 Unpaid State
An account is unpaid when a trial ends without purchase, a subscription is cancelled and the paid period expires, or renewal payment fails and is not cured. In the unpaid state we may limit or block interactive use of the Service behind a soft paywall while retaining your User Content so you can export data or resume a paid membership. Unpaid status is not account deletion; deletion remains your choice under Section 13 (or our retention rules if the account is abandoned).
4.6 Refunds
Refunds and Australian Consumer Law remedies are described in our Refund Policy. That page is part of our commercial terms for memberships. In summary: nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee or right under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded; payment-level refunds are processed through Paddle as MoR where applicable; and you can cancel as set out in Section 4.4. For questions, contact legal@lifeengine.app.
4.7 Taxes
Customer-facing list prices are presented as GST-inclusive where GST applies to the sale shown at checkout. As Merchant of Record, Paddle calculates, collects, and remits applicable sales taxes (including GST/VAT where required) on the purchase according to its tax rules and the information available at checkout. Do not treat our list prices as exclusive of GST when the checkout or pricing page states they are inclusive. Taxes based solely on Life Engine's own income remain our responsibility.
5. User Content and Data
5.1 Ownership of Your Data
You retain full ownership of all data, content, and information that you submit, upload, or enter into the Service ("User Content"). This includes, but is not limited to, vehicle information, employment records, financial data, trip logs, fuel logs, service records, and any other personal or household data managed through your Engine. Life Engine does not claim any ownership rights over your User Content.
5.2 Licence to Life Engine
By using the Service, you grant Life Engine a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access, process, store, and display your User Content solely for the purposes of:
- Providing, maintaining, and improving the Service.
- Enabling features you have activated, including data sharing within Family Engines.
- Generating aggregated, anonymised analytics that cannot be used to identify you or any individual user.
- Complying with applicable laws and legal obligations.
This licence terminates when you delete your User Content or your account, subject to reasonable backup and archival retention periods as described in our Privacy Policy.
5.3 Data Portability
You retain ownership of your User Content and may take it with you. The Service provides in-product export tools for some domains where we have shipped them (formats vary by feature). We do not guarantee a single full-account dump of every domain in CSV, JSON, or any other format today. Where an in-product export is unavailable, contact legal@lifeengine.app and we will aim to help you obtain a reasonable copy of your data. We intend to widen portability over time.
5.4 Data Accuracy and Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the accuracy, quality, legality, and appropriateness of all User Content you enter into the Service. Life Engine does not verify, validate, or endorse any User Content and shall not be held liable for any errors, inaccuracies, or omissions in your data.
6. Family Engines and Shared Data
6.1 Family Engine Overview
Family Engines enable multiple users to share selected data and coordinate activities within a shared workspace. When you create or join a Family Engine, you agree to the additional terms set forth in this section.
6.2 Data Visibility and Privacy Controls
Life Engine provides granular visibility settings that allow you to control which data is shared with other members of your Family Engine and which data remains private to your Personal Engine. You are responsible for reviewing and configuring your visibility settings. Life Engine is not liable for any data that you intentionally or inadvertently make visible to other Family Engine members through your configured settings.
6.3 Shared Data Responsibilities
When you share data through a Family Engine, you acknowledge and agree that:
- Other members of the Family Engine may view, and in some cases interact with, the data you have chosen to share.
- You are responsible for obtaining any necessary consent before sharing data that relates to or identifies other individuals.
- You will not share data that is unlawful, defamatory, or that infringes the rights of any third party.
- Life Engine does not mediate disputes between Family Engine members regarding shared data, visibility settings, or data access.
6.4 Family Engine Administration
The creator of a Family Engine serves as the administrator and is responsible for managing membership, including inviting and removing members. The administrator agrees to use these capabilities responsibly and in accordance with these Terms. If a Shared engine or Family Pack entitlement ends, affected members will be notified, and shared data access will be restricted in accordance with Sections 4.4 and 4.5.
6.5 Minor Users in Family Engines
Parents or legal guardians may add minor children (under 18 years of age) to a Family Engine. The parent or legal guardian who adds a minor assumes full responsibility for the minor's use of the Service and for all data entered on the minor's behalf. Life Engine processes data relating to minors in accordance with applicable child privacy laws, as further described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Acceptable Use Policy
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in compliance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any illegal, fraudulent, or unauthorised purpose.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service, other user accounts, or any systems or networks connected to the Service.
- Upload, transmit, or store any content that contains viruses, malware, or any other harmful code.
- Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable burden on the Service or its infrastructure.
- Use automated tools, scripts, bots, or scrapers to access or interact with the Service without Life Engine's prior written consent.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or otherwise attempt to derive the source code of the Service.
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsely represent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- Use the Service to collect, harvest, or store personal data of other users without their explicit consent.
- Resell, sublicence, or redistribute access to the Service without Life Engine's prior written consent.
- Use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair the Service, or interfere with any other party's use of the Service.
Life Engine reserves the right to investigate suspected violations of this Acceptable Use Policy and to take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating your account, reporting violations to law enforcement, and pursuing any available legal remedies.
8. Intellectual Property
8.1 Life Engine's Intellectual Property
The Service, including all software, code, design, text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio, video, data compilations, and the arrangement thereof (collectively, "Platform Content"), is the exclusive property of Life Engine or its licensors and is protected by Australian and international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
The Life Engine name, logo, and all related names, logos, product and service names, designs, and slogans are trademarks of Life Engine. You may not use these marks without Life Engine's prior written permission.
8.2 Limited Licence to Use
Subject to your compliance with these Terms and a valid trial or paid membership entitlement, Life Engine grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Service for your personal or household use. This licence does not include the right to modify, copy, distribute, transmit, display, perform, reproduce, publish, licence, create derivative works from, transfer, or sell any Platform Content.
8.3 User Content Ownership
As stated in Section 5, you retain full ownership of all User Content. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of your data to Life Engine. The licence granted to Life Engine under Section 5.2 is solely for the purpose of operating and providing the Service.
8.4 Feedback
If you provide Life Engine with any feedback, suggestions, ideas, or recommendations regarding the Service ("Feedback"), you grant Life Engine a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, fully sublicensable licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, and distribute such Feedback for any purpose without compensation or attribution to you.
9. Privacy
Your privacy is fundamental to Life Engine. Our collection, use, storage, and disclosure of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy and consent to the practices described therein.
Life Engine is built on a privacy-first architecture. We employ industry-standard encryption and security measures to protect your data. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. For more information about how we handle your data, please review our Privacy Policy.
Life Engine complies with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). If you are located outside of Australia, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in Australia, and you consent to such transfer and processing.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Life Engine expressly disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.
Without limiting the foregoing, Life Engine does not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.
- The results obtained from the Service will be accurate, reliable, or complete.
- Any defects or errors in the Service will be corrected.
- The Service will be compatible with all hardware, software, or devices.
The Service does not provide financial, legal, tax, or professional advice. Any financial data, reports, calculations, or summaries generated by the Service are for informational and personal organisation purposes only. You should consult with qualified professionals before making financial, legal, or tax decisions. Life Engine is not a financial adviser, tax agent, or legal practitioner, and the Service should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional advice.
Nothing in these disclaimers excludes, restricts, or modifies any consumer guarantee, right, or remedy conferred on you by the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable law that cannot be excluded, restricted, or modified by agreement.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Life Engine, its directors, officers, employees, agents, partners, suppliers, or licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to damages for loss of profits, goodwill, data, use, or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with:
- Your access to, use of, or inability to access or use the Service.
- Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service.
- Any User Content or data obtained from the Service.
- Unauthorised access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or data.
- Any decisions made or actions taken based on information provided by the Service.
In no event shall Life Engine's total aggregate liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms exceed the greater of: (a) the total amount you have paid to Life Engine in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or (b) one hundred Australian Dollars (AUD $100).
The limitations set forth in this section apply regardless of the theory of liability, whether based on warranty, contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other legal theory, and whether or not Life Engine has been advised of the possibility of such damages. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Life Engine, its directors, officers, employees, agents, partners, suppliers, and licensors from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:
- Your use of or access to the Service.
- Your User Content or any data you enter into the Service.
- Your violation of these Terms or any applicable law or regulation.
- Your violation of any rights of a third party, including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
- Any dispute between you and another user of the Service, including disputes between Family Engine members.
Life Engine reserves the right, at its own expense, to assume the exclusive defence and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which event you agree to cooperate with Life Engine in asserting any available defences.
13. Termination
13.1 Termination by You
You may terminate your account and these Terms at any time by deleting your account through the account settings page. Before deleting your account, you are encouraged to use any in-product export tools that apply to your data, or to request a copy under Section 5.3.
13.2 Termination by Life Engine
Life Engine may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to:
- A breach or suspected breach of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy.
- A request by law enforcement or other government agencies.
- Discontinuance or material modification of the Service.
- Unexpected technical or security issues.
- Extended periods of inactivity as defined in our data retention policies.
13.3 Effect of Termination
Upon termination of your account:
- Your right to access and use the Service will immediately cease.
- Life Engine will retain your User Content for a period of 30 days following termination, during which you may request a copy of your data by contacting legal@lifeengine.app (see Section 5.3).
- After the 30-day retention period, Life Engine will delete your User Content from active systems. Copies may remain in encrypted backup systems for a reasonable additional period, after which they will be permanently deleted.
- If you are the administrator of a Family Engine, all members of that Family Engine will be notified, and shared data access will be restricted.
- Any provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including, without limitation, Sections 5, 8, 10, 11, 12, 15, and 16) shall survive.
14. Changes to Terms
Life Engine reserves the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time at our sole discretion. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page and take reasonable steps to notify you of material changes, which may include:
- Sending an email notification to the address associated with your account.
- Displaying a prominent notice within the Service.
- Posting the updated Terms on our website.
Your continued use of the Service after any changes to these Terms constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using the Service and delete your account. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically for any updates.
For material changes that significantly affect your rights or obligations, we will provide at least 30 days' notice before the new Terms take effect. During this notice period, you may contact us with any questions or concerns.
15. Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of New South Wales, Australia, and the Commonwealth of Australia where applicable, without regard to conflict of law provisions that would require another jurisdiction's laws.
Subject to Section 16 and any non-excludable rights you have under Australian law (including the Australian Consumer Law), the courts of New South Wales, Australia, and courts of appeal therefrom, have jurisdiction to resolve disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms. Nothing in this section prevents you from bringing a claim in a court that has jurisdiction under applicable consumer law. Life Engine may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction to prevent the actual or threatened infringement, misappropriation, or violation of its intellectual property rights or other proprietary rights.
16. Dispute Resolution
16.1 Informal Resolution
Before initiating court proceedings, you agree to first attempt to resolve any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service informally by contacting Life Engine at legal@lifeengine.app. We will aim to respond and negotiate in good faith. This informal step does not limit any non-excludable rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law, and does not require you to delay urgent interim relief where genuinely needed.
16.2 Formal Resolution
If the dispute is not resolved informally, either party may pursue available remedies in a competent court, including the courts of New South Wales as set out in Section 15, or other forums available under Australian consumer law. The parties may also agree in writing to mediation or another alternative dispute process in Sydney, New South Wales, with costs shared as they agree.
